What does ‘Pending QC Approval’ mean?

QC stands for “Quality Control”. This is a final (technical) check of your release before it is imported by the stores. This check is done externally, so we have no influence on the speed with which it is handled. In most cases, however, this process does not take longer than 1 to 2 business days.

When creating a release you can choose under which genre it should appear in the stores. The stores are free to choose a different genre, but the preferred choice is usually adopted. The layout of genres and subgenres differs per store. Some stores use a few dozen main genres, while other stores make further subdivisions into subgenres. Can a release contain multiple artists?

Yes, distribution of a compilation / compilation album from multiple artists is no problem. A release counts as a compilation when four or more artists (“primary artists”) participate. On tab 1, enter “Various Artists” in “primary artist” in this case. For the individual tracks, enter the actual name of the artists.
